Do you have youth in your life ages 5 - 18? Want to make sure they have healthy adult supervision and keep them busy after school? Well, we have a program for you! We have President and CEO, Gabrielle Webster, an African American executive leading the charge to serve over 20,000 youth in the Greater Washington region on our show during Black History Month and in support of our ongoing mission to support diverse community programs. Asha, a teen club Member & Youth Ambassador, is also on our show with Dr. Alexis giving us the inside scoop of what it's like to be a member of the Boys and Girls Clubs. DR. ALEXIS MORENO - SHE/HER

CONSULTING PSYCHOLOGIST & HEALTH CORRESPONDENT

Dr. Moreno is passionate about the interplay between mass media communications, culture, and personal factors. Which explains her academic pursuits. She has a Doctorate in Community Clinical Psychology, a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Bachelor of Science in both Television Broadcasting and Psychology. The more time she spends studying psychological theory, researching human behavior, and working in the community, the more she is inspired by the power of systematically addressing personal and social issues. She has worked as a health educator with middle and high school students, provided psychotherapy with children, families, and couples recovering from violence and trauma, and treated adults on parole and in maximum security psychiatric hospitals suffering from severe mental illness. Dr. Moreno uses an ecological and biopsychosocial approach to every case conceptualization and collaboratively works with teams in a respectful, humanistic style. Passionate about working with a diverse clientele, she tailors her interventions and presentations to engage and meet the needs of every stakeholder involved.

Gabrielle Webster

PRESIDENT & CEO, BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER WASHINGTON

Gabrielle Webster joins the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington (BGCGW) after a successful corporate and non-profit career. She has served in important leadership roles at three large non-profit organizations serving the Washington Metropolitan Area and the Mid-Atlantic Region and brings significant development and management talent to BGCGW.  One of her main objectives is to reestablish a high level of excellence and quality in the services and programs offered to youth in the Metropolitan Area, especially in underserved areas.  Ms. Webster says, “I am grateful for this opportunity with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. “I have long been an admirer of this transformational organization as it has been the foundation for so many of our youth in the development of educational and essential life-long skills as well as being a safe environment for healthy and fun activities.  I look forward to working with a talented team, committed board members, as well as corporate and community leaders as we continue to expand our partnerships and develop additional opportunities for BGCGW members.”

Prior to BGCGW, Ms. Webster was the Chief Development Officer at the United Way of the National Capital Area.  In this role, she was responsible for the development of the strategic direction, assessment, organization, and implementation of all philanthropic endeavors.

Gabrielle has a depth of leadership experience as a nonprofit and public sector professional with a track record of growth and exceeding expectations. Before United Way, she served as a National Vice President for the American Heart Association where she was charged with the development, implementation, and execution of new national business-to-consumer campaigns. Prior to that role, she was Vice-President of the Mid-Atlantic Region’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society where she managed a $36M budget across nine states.

Before her career in the nonprofit sector, Gabrielle spent over a decade with the Eastman Kodak Company and held a number of leadership positions in marketing, sales, university relations, and engineering technology.

Gabrielle is a National Science Foundation Fellow, a National Biomedical Symposium Fellow, and a Polaroid Scholar. She was chosen to attend the Center for Creative Leadership in 2009 as one of the top executive directors at the American Heart Association.  She is a graduate of Leadership Greater Washington 2013.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Xavier University and a Masters of Physical Chemistry from Atlanta University.  She and her husband reside in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and they have one daughter.
